What reviewers are saying
The high-top Adidas NMD_XR1 Winter has a thicker textile upper than other NMDs covered with Primeknit. The Boost technology is a midsole construction made of foam pellets compressed together. This tech is developed by the BASF, a German-based company, as ” Infinergy.” Adidas carries the trademark Boost property which is the most responsive cushioning under its wings as yet. The outsole has traction but not enough to keep the feet stable on slippery grounds. The front upper is connected to the hi-cut collar through welded seams, which keeps the feet snug and warm. When magnified, the upper seems to be made up of rough tie rope knitted together. The heel tab is made of buttery suede. Inside the shoe is a thin layer of OrthoLite sockliner which keeps the feet dry and fresh inside this tight-fitting environment. Its inner lining has no padding. An inner heel counter creates additional support and stability to the shoe. Reviewers mentioned that despite the minimal difference between the regular NMD XR1s, the winter model is a little too expensive. On the lower portion of the upper, just above the midsole, is a thin layer of synthetic material which strengthens that area and gives more stability to the sides of the shoe.
The tight and sturdy knit makes the upper of this XR1 repellant to water drops. The high-top NMD_XR1 Winter utilizes a skinny pair of rope laces that match with its overall color scheme. The dark hits on the laces are 3M Reflective which offers a surprising pop to the sneaker in the dark. Under the mesh upper is like a layer of polyester shell that insulates the feet from the cold temperature. The image projected on the brand’s website has a stitched-on cloth on the edges of the collar, whereas the actual shoe available on retail has a rounded edge like in the Tubular Doom. One user noticed that the medial plug digs into the arch. The stitching of the heel tab where the pull tab is threaded through rubs against the back of the feet.

It has a stretchable collar similar to the Adidas Tubular Doom. The high ankle ribbed collar simulates the feeling of a snug, high-cut sock. The upper cleatie construction prevents foreign elements from getting into the shoe. Instead of plastic fit cage seen in previous Adidas NMD_ XR1s, the shoelace rib on this shoe is made of leather which puts a premium touch to its overall look. This high-top winterized shoe has the winning Boost cushioning in the midsole that enhances its comfort level.
